Where to Buy a Used Camera in Bangkok
Where to buy a used camera in Bangkok: what a safe seller looks like, and what to check before paying.
We hear this question every day. The short answer: buy from a place where you can see and try the real camera before you pay, and where someone is reachable afterwards. Whether that is our shop, another shop or a private seller, the checklist below works anywhere.
Bangkok has used camera shops with a storefront, shopping centres with a camera zone, online buy-and-sell groups and private sellers. Each has different pros and cons, written plainly below.

Checklist for choosing a seller
- Can you see the real item before paying? — if the answer is "transfer first, we will send it" with no shop or meeting, the risk is highest.
- Are the photos of that exact unit? — manufacturer photos tell you nothing. Ask for a photo with the screen on, or one taken with a handwritten date.
- Does the seller describe condition and flaws unprompted? — a good seller tells you about marks and problems before you ask.
- Is the price reasonable? — a price far below the market usually has a reason. Check the new price and other used prices first.
- Can you reach them after you buy? — a shop with an address, a phone number and channels it has used for a long time is safer than a newly created account.
- Will they let you check the shutter count and sensor in front of you? — if the seller refuses, walk away.
Shop with a storefront vs online groups vs private sellers
A shop with a storefront — you see the item, you can try it and someone is responsible. The price may be a little higher than a private seller because the shop checks the camera and takes on the risk for you.
Online buy-and-sell groups — lots of choice and a wide range of prices, but you have to filter everything yourself. If you buy, meet in a safe place and check everything before you pay.
Private sellers — often the best price, and you often get the real usage history from the owner, but nobody is responsible afterwards. Suitable when you know how to check a camera and accept the risk.
How our shop works
SYG Camera Thailand is a used camera shop with a storefront in Charoen Krung (2297 Charoen Krung Rd, Wat Phraya Krai, Bang Kho Laem, Bangkok 10120), open daily 11:00–19:00. Everything listed on the website is in the shop: real photos of that exact unit, priced in Thai baht. You can try it, check the shutter and the sensor in front of us, and then decide.
We also buy used cameras through sellyourgadget.asia. Most of what comes into the shop comes directly from owners.
What to ask before you buy, whoever you buy from, is in the used camera checklist and warranty and receipts (both in Thai).
คำถามที่พบบ่อย
Where should I meet a private seller in Bangkok to buy a used camera?
Somewhere public with people and CCTV, such as inside a shopping centre or a café. Do not meet in a secluded place, and finish checking the camera before you pay.
How much cheaper than new should a used camera in Bangkok be?
There is no fixed number. It depends on the model, age and condition. A good method is to compare the same unit from several sources in the same week. If one is far cheaper than all the others, be suspicious.
